Steven Levy's profile of Tim OReilly notes his involvement with George Simon. Some at Xark found an old blog entry by Tim treating Simon's work as an extension of General Semantics. I can't find any other references to Simon anywhere. The excerpt of notation in the Levy article remind me of 2005-08-25-LogicAlphabet. (more)

Mark Jung Beeman, JohnKounios, and Ed Bowden have shown Recent findings suggest that people think about solutions, at an unconscious level, prior to solving insight problems, and that the right cerebral hemisphere (RH) appears to be preferentially involved. Jung-Beeman et al. predicted that a particular region of the RH, called the anterior superior temporal gyrus (aSTG), is likely involved in insight because it seems critical for tasks that require recognizing broad Associative semantic relationships - exactly the type of process that could facilitate reinterpretation of problems and lead to insight. AWK

AWK is a programming language designed for processing text-based data, either in files or data streams. It is an example of a programming language that extensively uses the string datatype, Associative Array-s (that is, arrays indexed by key strings), and regular expressions. AWK is one of the early tools to appear in Version 7 Unix and gained popularity as a way to add computational features to a UNIX pipeline. (more)

Bitbucket is a web-based hosting service for projects that use either the Mercurial or Git revision control systems. Bitbucket offers both commercial plans and free accounts... On 29 September 2010, Bitbucket was acquired by VC-funded Atlassian.[4] Initially, Bitbucket only offered hosting support for Mercurial projects. On 3 October 2011, Bitbucket officially announced support for Git hosting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitbucket (more)

Cloud Foundry is an Open Source PaaS framework. It's written in Ruby, but intended to host any language (but so far only Ruby On Rails and JVM languages) or other component. “The code is absolutely infrastructure agnostic,” Lucovsky says. “We developed it on our Mac laptops, and at launch, we were running it on Amazon [EC2]. We’ve been running it on vSphere and [V Mware's infrastructure cloud platform] vCloud and bare metal machines.”... Maritz says V Mware doesn’t have a concrete plan for making money from Cloud Foundry. “A leap of faith,” he calls it... This summer, V Mware took its egalitarian stance even further when it introduced a version of Cloud Foundry that runs on your personal laptop. (more)
